Run Shopify Bulk Price Changes with Airtable

In Shopify, prices are stored on each variant, not on the product. Even a product with no visible options has one default variant that holds its price. A bulk price change is really a bulk update of variant price values.

The Shopify admin includes a Bulk Editor for prices, but editing across hundreds of variants, applying conditional adjustments, or coordinating a margin-based update is still cumbersome.

AirPower brings variant prices into Airtable as a column. Edit the values directly, or compute them with a formula based on cost, margin, or category. On the next Airtable → Shopify sync, the new prices are pushed to Shopify.

Where variant prices live in Airtable

Variants can live on their own Airtable table, or share a table with their products. AirPower supports both layouts, including the two template bases:

  • Variants on the same table as products: matches the Compact template, where each row is a product or variant combined.
  • Variants on a separate table: matches the Expanded template, where Products and Variants are linked across two tables.

The template bases are a starting point, not a requirement. You can also let AirPower auto-configure a new base from inside the sync editor. When you create a new sync, AirPower can build the Products and Variants tables and add the recommended columns automatically. See Template bases for both options.

For either layout, the price field is mapped on the Variants data type in the sync editor.

Map the price field

  1. Open the Airtable → Shopify sync
  2. Go to Data & fields and click Variants
  3. Select the Airtable table that contains the variant records (the same table as products in a compact layout, or the separate Variants table in an expanded layout)
  4. In the Main Fields pane, map the price field to the corresponding Airtable column
  5. Click Save sync

Update prices and sync

Edit the price values in your Airtable variants table. When you’re ready to apply the changes, click Sync now on the dashboard sync card. AirPower pushes the updated prices to Shopify.
