Inventory fields you can edit in Airtable
Inventory lives on your Variants table. Each location and quantity type you add becomes its own column. Only Available quantities go back to Shopify.
| Area | Fields | Into Airtable | Back to Shopify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Available stock | Available quantity at each location you add, one number column per location Set up inventory | ||
| Other quantity types | Committed, on hand, incoming, reserved, damaged, quality control, and safety stock, per location | Read only | |
| Tracking settings | Whether Shopify tracks stock for the variant, and the inventory policy (keep selling when sold out or stop) | ||
| Cost and customs | Cost per item, country and province of origin, and harmonized system (HS) code | ||
| Item details | Inventory item SKU and whether the item requires shipping | ||
| Totals | Total inventory quantity and sellable online quantity for each variant | Read only | |
| Locations | Location name, address, and country, on their own Locations table Locations table | Read only |
Price, SKU, barcode, and other variant fields sit on the same rows. See Variants for the full list.
From Shopify to Airtable and back
Two Syncs do the work. One brings stock levels in and keeps them current. The other sends your counts to Shopify.
-
Bring stock in
On the Variants tab, open the Stock by location card and click + Add row for each location and quantity type. Then click Download next to Products in Settings > Download data to load current stock.
-
Update counts
Paste counts from a stock take or a supplier file, or fill down across a filtered view. Each location has its own Available column, so you can update one warehouse without touching the others.

For each row with a Shopify ID, AirPower sets the Available quantity at every location your Airtable to Shopify Sync sends. How write-back works
Keep stock on the Variants table. Inventory write-back needs the stock columns and the variant rows on the same Airtable table. Set up stock columns in the Stock by location card on the Variants tab, so they sit on the variant rows. Inventory setup
Shopify admin or Airtable for inventory
Shopify's bulk editor and CSV files already handle some inventory edits. Here is what changes when you work in Airtable.
| Task | In the Shopify admin | In Airtable with AirPower |
|---|---|---|
| See stock at every location | The bulk editor shows inventory for one selected location at a time. | Each location is its own column, so every location is on one row per variant. |
| Update more than quantities | The inventory CSV updates quantities but doesn't update the variant's SKU. | SKU, cost, origin, and HS code sit on the same rows and go back to Shopify too. |
| Keep counts current | A CSV export is a snapshot of the moment you download it. | Stock changes in Shopify reach Airtable on their own, in real time by default. |

Inventory questions
More answers in the help center, or email team@airpowersync.com.
Which quantities can I change from Airtable?
Only Available. Committed, on hand, incoming, reserved, damaged, quality control, and safety stock come into Airtable for reporting, but they are not sent back to Shopify.
Can I update stock at more than one location?
Yes. Add a row in the Stock by location card for each location, each with its own Airtable column. One sync updates every location in the card for each variant.
What happens if an Available cell is empty?
AirPower sends 0 for that location. Fill every Available column the Sync sends before you sync. To update only some variants, click every row next to From on the Variants tab and pick an Airtable view, so only those rows are sent. Limit rows with a view
Why didn't a quantity change in Shopify?
Check that the row has a Shopify ID, since that is how AirPower matches it to the variant. Shopify must also track inventory for that variant. If tracking is off, AirPower skips the update and lists an error on the Sync's Errors tab. Turn tracking on from Airtable with Tracks stock.
