Sync Shopify Custom Order Options to Airtable

Configure AirPower to pull line-item customizations from Shopify into Airtable so your team can see every engraving, personalization, or add-on request.

Sync Shopify Custom Order Options to Airtable

In Shopify, custom order options are stored on order line items as named properties, not on the order itself. Each line item can carry its own set of customization values, such as engraving text, gift messages, or product personalizations entered by the customer at checkout.

These properties are visible inside each order in the admin, but they are not exposed as a structured field. Triaging or fulfilling many orders with custom values means clicking into each one.

AirPower brings line item properties into Airtable. Define each property name once on the Order Line Items mapping and assign it an Airtable column. When orders sync, each customization lands in its own column ready for filtering, reporting, or handoff to fulfillment. This sync runs Shopify → Airtable only because the values are entered by customers.

Set up custom order option sync

  1. Open a Shopify → Airtable sync
  2. Go to Data & fields
  3. Click Order Line Items
  4. Select the Airtable table to sync to
  5. Open the Custom fields pane
  6. Click + Add row for each custom option you want to sync. For each row, enter:
    • Property name: the exact name of the customization as defined in Shopify (for example, Engraving text)
    • Airtable column: the column to store the value in
    • Column type: defaults to Text. Change this if your Airtable column uses a different type.
  7. Click Save sync

Multiple customizations can map to the same Airtable column if they are mutually exclusive: that is, a customer can only set one of them on a given line item.
