From Shopify to Airtable and back

Two Syncs do the work. One brings your translations in. The other sends your edits to Shopify.

  1. Add languages and download

In the Translations card on a data type's tab, find the language and market you want and click + Add a translation. Save, and AirPower downloads what Shopify has.

  2. Edit in bulk

Compare languages side by side. Paste in work from your translator, or fix a term across hundreds of rows with find and replace.

  3. Click Sync now

Rows are matched to Shopify records by the Shopify ID column. Each translation column the Sync sends updates its language and market in Shopify.

Translations need a manual download. Shopify does not send translation changes to AirPower on its own. Click Download next to Translations in Settings > Download data, or use Download now on the dashboard sync card, whenever you want a fresh copy in Airtable. How manual downloads work

Shopify admin or Airtable for translations

Shopify's bulk editor and CSV files already handle some translations edits. Here is what changes when you work in Airtable.

Task In the Shopify admin In Airtable with AirPower
Translate in bulk Translate & Adapt exports content to a CSV, which is emailed to you, and imports it back. Each language or market is a column next to the original text, and edits go back when you sync.
Fill in translations Translations aren't generated for you when you use a CSV file. Airtable formulas, automations, or AI fields can fill translation columns before you sync.

Translation questions

More answers in the help center, or email team@airpowersync.com.

What can I translate?

Products, variant option values, collections, blogs, blog posts, pages, and metaobject entries. Translated metafield values are set up separately in the Metafield translations card. Metaobject translations

What is the difference between All Markets and a single market?

An All Markets translation is the default for a language. A market-specific translation overrides it for shoppers in that one market. The same field can have both, each in its own column.

Do translation changes in Shopify reach Airtable on their own?

No. Shopify does not send translation changes to AirPower. Click Download next to Translations in Settings > Download data, or use Download now on the dashboard sync card, to load the latest copy.

What happens when I clear a translation cell?

On an Airtable to Shopify Sync, an empty cell removes that translation from Shopify for its language and market. Shoppers then see Shopify's fallback text for that field.
