Metafields you can edit in Airtable
Metafields work on eight kinds of Shopify records, from products to image files. Pick the metafields you need from your store's definitions, and each one becomes a column on that record's table.

From Shopify to Airtable and back
Two Syncs do the work. One brings metafield values in. The other sends your edits to Shopify.

Bring your metafields in
In the Metafields card on a data type's tab, click Sync to Airtable under each metafield your store defines. Click Save, and keep the data type ticked in Save changes to load current values.

Edit in bulk
Paste, fill down, or use a formula or lookup column to set values across hundreds of rows. Each value sits on the same row as the record it belongs to.

Click Sync now
Rows are matched to Shopify records by the Shopify ID column. The metafields the Sync sends are created or updated on each record.
Empty cells delete values. On an Airtable to Shopify Sync, an empty cell in a column the Sync sends deletes that metafield from the Shopify record. Send only the metafields you manage in Airtable, or send a filtered view. Limit rows with views
Shopify admin or Airtable for metafields
Shopify's bulk editor and CSV files already handle some metafields edits. Here is what changes when you work in Airtable.

Which records support metafields?
Products, variants, collections, orders, customers, pages, blog posts, and image files. Each metafield syncs to a column on that record's Airtable table, and it can be synced in either direction.
What happens when a cell is empty?
On an Airtable to Shopify Sync, an empty cell deletes that metafield from the Shopify record. Fill the cell again and the next sync creates it.
Can I sync a metafield that has no definition in Shopify?
Yes. In the Metafields card, click Add a metafield Shopify has no definition for, then enter the namespace, key, and value type. The value is created on the first Airtable to Shopify sync. This does not create a metafield definition in Shopify.
Can a formula fill a metafield?
Yes. Send a formula or lookup column like any other column. Its result is sent as the metafield value when the Airtable to Shopify Sync runs.
